Radiography and Imaging Technology
  • Duration 4 Years
  • Module Integrated
Course Overview

The Radiography and imaging technology Course is a four  year integrated program consisting of both academic learning and practical training (Internship) in order to integrate theory with practice.

At the end of Internship the candidates acquire sufficient knowledge, expertise & understanding of the functioning of human body and they will be well trained in various imaging modalities.

Infrastructure
  • Radiology Department intended for B.Sc. Radiography students with hands-on training in X-ray, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound, completely integrated with PACS systems. Students are guided by experienced faculty to build strong clinical skills and prepare for a professional career in medical imaging.

  • Students are trained hands-on, with the following infrastructure.

  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

    • Students receive hands-on training in MRI scanning techniques and patient positioning. They learn to operate the MRI system under expert supervision in clinical settings. MRI imaging helps in detailed visualization of soft tissues, organs, and the brain, providing clearer images than X-rays or CT scans, especially for conditions like torn ligaments, herniated discs, or brain tumors. All Basic studies, such as brain, spine, pelvis, joints, MRA, MRV, MRCP, and Contrast studies, can be done. Training includes understanding MRI sequences like T1, T2, FLAIR, and DWI. Emphasis is placed on MRI safety protocols and emergency procedures. Case-based learning and simulation tools help reinforce technical and diagnostic skills.

  • CT (Computed Tomography)

    • Students gain hands-on experience operating CT scanners and positioning patients accurately. They are trained in image acquisition, contrast usage, and scan protocol selection . Emphasis is placed on radiation safety, dose optimization, and shielding techniques. Students learn to perform scans of the head, chest, abdomen, and extremities. They are introduced to multi-planar reconstructions and 3D imaging techniques.

    • They are also trained for patient positioning and CT acquisition specific to External Beam Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy.

    • Case discussions and supervised clinical practice enhance their diagnostic understanding.

  • US (Ultrasound Imaging)

    • Students are involved in training and observing in Ultrasonography, a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs and tissues that can also be used to measure the blood flow through your blood vessels, enabling doctors to visualize structures and assess conditions without radiation exposure. Tissue biopsies can also be done with the help of ultrasound. Mobile/portable ultrasound devices have revolutionized point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), offering numerous advantages over traditional, bulky ultrasound machines. Our Hospital is equipped with various ultrasound models such as GE Healthcare – Voluson E6, Voluson E6 Radiance, Voluson S8, Logiq P9, Logiq S8 , Sonoscape S50, Mindray DC80

  • MAMMOGRAPHY

    • Students are well trained to image Mammography, is a specialized medical imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system to visualise the breast tissue abnormalities. Our hospital is equipped with the advanced digital Breast Tomosynthesis equipment (Hologic Inc Selenia Dimensions) which gives 3-D images of the breast. Several projections and special views are taken also stereotactic biopsies are done.

  • X-RAY IMAGING

    • Students get hands on training in General radiography (X-ray) equipments like fixed and mobile units under the guidance of experienced radiography technologist, is an important diagnostic tool and the most basic form of diagnostic imaging. These images are used to detect abnormalities in bones, lungs and other internal organs.

  • C-ARM

    • Students have access to a designated space equipped with C-Arm fluoroscopy systems for hands-on learning. Fluoroscopy uses X-Ray as a source for imaging at the same time it aids in real time imaging of the internal structure. Students are trained to interpret all kinds of projections The facility is designed with strict radiation safety protocols, including lead aprons, protective barriers, and monitoring devices to instill proper safety habits. Experienced faculty members supervise all training sessions, providing guidance on both technical skills and safety procedures.
